Waiting For India: Bangladesh On Sheikh Hasina Extradition

Big news regarding the extradition of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 

Bangladesh has already sent a letter to the Indian government.

India has acknowledged the letter sent to Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Rafiqul Alam said, adding that Bangladesh is now waiting for India's response.

He made these remarks in a press briefing on contemporary issues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, January 9 afternoon.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "The letter sent to return Sheikh Hasina has been acknowledged by India. Now Bangladesh is waiting for India's response."

Regarding Awami League President Sheikh Hasina's visa extension, Rafiqul Alam said that if someone's passport is cancelled, the Foreign Ministry informs other countries. The official said that it is not possible to issue a visa if the passport is cancelled.

Regarding the expedited issuance of visas for those injured in the July protests to seek treatment abroad, he said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working on this issue. Already, 11 people have been sent abroad for treatment, of which two have returned home after treatment
