Will Fight Jointly The 2026 Assembly Election: Assam Congress President

Assam Congress president Bhupen Kumar Bora on Thursday said that they will contest the 2026 assembly elections as a 16-party joint opposition.

Bora said that till then the party and other members of the forum will continue to work in all the districts.

He said that the opposition parties fighting the 2026 assembly elections together does not mean that the parties should sit idle. All the parties will continue to expand their organization till the elections. This will not harm any party.

It discussed decentralization of power and giving the district and divisional committees the right to take decisions at the local level under the direction of the state committee for ticket distribution.

There was also talk about activating the party's disciplinary committee and working according to the party's constitution.

Bora said that six committees have been formed under the chairmanship of top leaders of the state for organizational changes, training of new members and election management.

Also, a digital task force is being formed, through which the party's message will be conveyed to every worker and leader. Let us tell you that earlier Bora had talked about contesting elections on all five assembly seats in the state
