Just hours before the grand finale of the Ganesh festival, Mumbai has been rocked by a spine-chilling terror threat. A WhatsApp message sent to the city’s Traffic Police control room has warned of multiple blasts that could ‘shake the entire Mumbai’.
The message, claiming to be from the terror outfit ‘Lashkar-e-Jihadi’, made horrifying claims:
34 vehicles packed with human bombs ready to explode,
400 kilograms of deadly RDX smuggled into the city,
14 Pakistani terrorists already inside India, waiting for orders.
As panic gripped security circles, the Crime Branch, Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), and central agencies rushed into action. A massive security blanket has been thrown over the city. Sensitive locations are being combed, checkpoints tightened, and police presence multiplied.
The timing of the threat has raised fears – with lakhs of devotees expected on the streets for Ganesh visarjan this Saturday, the city is staring at the possibility of a nightmare scenario.
Police have urged citizens to remain calm but vigilant. “Do not believe in rumours. Report any suspicious activity immediately. We are taking every measure to ensure the celebrations remain safe,” an official appealed.
Mumbai is no stranger to terror threats – but the deadly cocktail of ‘human bombs’ and RDX claimed in this message has left even hardened security officials on edge.
